Worried about Darwin

He was fine yesterday but he hasn't been his normal active self today. I've kept a close eye on him, expecting him to become more active as he warmed up in the sun but it hasn't happened     . So we're off to the Vets at 3.15.

I've just picked him up and he's retracted into his shell and would not come out. His eyes are closed and he weed as I was holding him.

This doesn't seem right

Poor Darwin, lots of   for the vet
Jillyp

He's gone       . He seemed totally lifeless so I took him to the Vets and they've confirmed he's gone. She thought he looked a bit jaundiced but shell looked fine and he had grown.

I'm taking Titch for the original appointment and then I'll have to make a decision regarding a post mortem

I can't believe this, he was fine yesterday.

Oh Jill, I'm so sorry
I'm keeping everything crossed that Titch is ok

The others appear fine and as a post mortem would be at least £200 and possibly inconclusive, I've decided against it.

I'm keeping a very watchful eye on them and they'll be referred to an exotic specialist at the first sign of anything amiss.

I still can't believe he was motoring round the garden yesterday and is now gone

Oh no! I'm so sorry Jilly   What a terrible shock for you

Big RIP Darwin

Thanks all - I buried him the other day   .

The Vet has got back to me after speaking to various experts and the yellow tinge to skin cold be a vitamin A deficiency and they all recommend Nutrobal. I have that, it's just that I stopped using it as the fussy buggers wouldn't eat the weeds that had Neutrobal on them   . Now they are going to have to or starve, I can't cope with fussy eaters, this is too much of a raw time for me at the mo.

Oh sweetheart, I'm so sorry.

I've done some more research and it's not uncommon for torts to refuse food with Nutrobal on it as it has a very strong smell   . It's suggested that keeping it in the fridge helps as for some reason, it doesn't smell as strong then.

If you thought bunny nutrition was complicated, try torts

I'm really sorry to hear about Darwin.
