Un bonded with my buns The pretty boys.... aaaghhh! They are so what I coveted in the looks department i.e. white buns with blackeyeliner but we are just not getting on . Billie-Joe has always been the most bold and will take food frm my hand and suffer the odd nose rub, Chester however bolts into the box in the cage the minute I'm near . My bro spent time with them and we thought progress was being made but I've just offered them dandelions and they've both shot off into boxes to get away from me . This is such a far cry from my snuggly trio that I can't help but feelng distant from them
I want to cry.

Shall we cry together??
It's hard isn't it, Willow was exactly the same when she arrived here with her sister. She still doesn't like me but is a lot braver than she used to be believe it or not. I don't know what to suggest, the only reason Willow got any better is because she had to move inside for a course of panacur and then Simon came along and gave her a much needed confidence boost.

Yes, let's have a weepy session .
Apart from the sensuous Totti (only pet shop bun but kept on his own as they thought he was blind), all others gracing Chateau Poyse have been hard luck rescue cases e.g 11 year old Molly in rescue for the past 5 years; 7 year old blind Rusty when the kids tired of her but didn't even know she was blind; Spike one of the dreadful 76 Oxford buns horror.
In comparison, the pretty boys have had it easy. They were part of an unwanted litter and handed in very, very young. I snapped thm up at the foster home so they have never known hardship. It really makes you wonder if they have deeper, more sophisticated feelings than we give them credit for.

I never ever bonded with Anya. She never liked me, would never tolerate a fuss, or come up to me of her own violition, although she would take treats from my hand.
And Evie was very much friendly on her own terms. I think some rabbits are just people rabbits and some aren't.
All of mine have come from pet shops except Watkins, who was dumped 'coz of his head tilt, yet he is the friendliest and most tolerant of being cuddled.
Just persevere with them, and if my three are owt to go by, get them some PAH dairy fruit drops, and they will never leave you alone, EVER.

They'l have to pass on the PAH treats as I won't step foot in the place.

You could always get them from here http://www.simplyk9.co.uk/shop/in...mp;cPath=3_55&products_id=215
I've just received my first order from there... saved me almost £10 on what I'd have paid elsewhere.
Have you tried hand feeding them Jill?? I mean literally all pellets and veg. I had to do that with Jack, when I first got him I couldn't get near him. It worked really well with him.
I'm planning on starting again with him and Emily cos they've gotten very skittish again... my fault for not spending enough time sitting in the run with them. Although it's harder to do now than the first time cos he just goes and hides in the hutch now
It didn't really work with Willow though.

I do hand feed the pretty boys. Billie-Joe will rest his dainty paws on my knee whilst he's troughing the pellets but Chester will take one then run away as if I'm the devil incarnate. This is probably because he hates being picked up but I insisted on picking him up, thinking that he'd get used to handling. so we are starting from the beginning but progress is slow to non-existent I haven't picked him up for weeks now
Good luck with Jack and Emily and keep me posted on how you're getting on.

That's exactly what I did with Willow and Bracken when they first arrived, and it just made them worse. I try not to pick Willow up now unless I have to and it seems to help a bit.... although she still doesn't like me. I decided a while back that it was ok though, she's happy living her life without too much interference from me. I do love to sneak up on the shed without her realising and watch her though, her behaviour is soooo different and much more natural. It makes me realise how much of a negative effect knowing I'm near has on her though.
Hopefully in time the boys will get a bit less scared
