Terry Pratchett Alzheimer's documentaryAnybody see this? I quite enjoyed it, although I was getting a tad distracted by all the cool stuff he's got, like the Grim Squeaker Marionette. The OH also spotted a Ray Mears book and has a new found respect for the man. Although considering some of the symptoms he was saying for Alzheimers, I have a few of them anyways, but that's just me. Couldn't remember my sister breaking her arm a decade ago, yet I can remember toys I had when I was a toddler!!

I recorded it and I thought they dealt with it in a very sensitive way. I found it interesting cos I've loved his books for years but all forms of dementia are something I deal with a lot at work and as I'm possibly becoming their official dementia trainer sometime in the future any information about it is very useful.

Damn, I meant to watch/record that! I've been out too much this week. I'll try and catch it on iPlayer, but goodness knows when I'll get chance.

I'm about 20 minutes into it on iPlayer. It's heartbreaking. For someone who has such a vast imagination, it's probably the cruellest thiong that could have happened. And watching him trying to tie his tie.

I refused to watch it.
He is someone that I deeply admire, and I just coudln't bear the thought of it.

He still seems quite upbeat about it, and is more concerned with how it'll affect his family. Although watching him trying to read an excerpt from his newest book at the Discworld Convention and falling over his words was upsetting. Although at least it's made me feel less frightened of potentially developing the disease, especially when you see all the research that's going on now to find ways of treating it...
