My hairy little bro...

has been in to have a lump removed from his jaw. They were going to biopsy it, but there's been no need. Apparently he has a tumour on his jaw and although they've removed most of it, it's gone down to the bone and they've had to remove a few of his teeth. Apparently it's going to get worse, so rather than leave him to worsen, my mum is going to take him to the vets on Saturday to be PTS. He's not done bad, 16 years old and otherwise sound, plus he's had a life of being spoilt rotten by everyone. I'm going to go and see him before he's taken away, even though I know I'll start crying. It's my dad I feel sorry for. He's full of flu and is going to have to dig a big hole in the garden for the dog to be buried in!!We're all wondering how long my mam will leave it before she gets her cat. She doesn't want another dog as she'd be comparing them to Pip,so she's been on about having a cat when he went. I know she'd have to get summat as she's home all the time and suffers panic attacks when she gets lonely. Here's a pic of him (you can see what a poser he is!)

I was planning on having a pic of him done as a canvas, as my mum has got one of him licking our old male bunny which she loves (she knicked the pic from me!), so am going to try and 'borrow' that and have it done for her birthday.

Oh hun, I'm so sorry.

That's so sad. I wonder why they've decided on Saturday.. sort of prolongs the agony but I guess it gives you maximum time with him. Will be thinking of you

I think it's so they can get everyone who wants to visit to come and say their farewells and so they can make his last few days as enjoyable as possible. He's not in pain or anything, having just devoured a load of chews and scrambled eggs, but they're going to have him PTS while he's still pain-free and before it gets to the point where he starts feeling it. Am going down their friday night so I can go in Saturday morning. Am prepared for my mam sobbing, but if my dad starts,I'll be off,as he's not one to cry very often.

Well they say it comes in 3 and we've had

1)Pip being PTS saturday
2) The OH's great aunt is back in hospital so they can sort out her mobility
3)We've just had a 20 minute power outage. Luckily it was just after Stargate Atlantis finished or the OH would've been livid!

I'm sorry, hun.   Sounds like the kindest thing to do for the wee fella.

Well I'm off down my parents later on as he's being PTS this afternoon at about 5 instead. Apparently he's not himself, he doesn't know what to do with himself and seems really nervy and uncomfortable. So I'm going to go down and stay with my mam as the old man has to go out tonight and doesn't want to leave her on her own. He's had the day off too, not sure if my sis has managed to get the day off or not. I think it's for the best as at least now she won't be waiting for Saturday to come and will be able to start grieving sooner and dealing with it earlier.....

Sounds like he's ready to go.

  Sorry its his time hun

I'm so sorry honey.
It's never an easy decision to make to let a pet go, and you've had more than your fair share of it recently.

Well he's gone. Got him to the vets and he found a little jack russell to flirt with before he went in.He got the last word though as once he passed away he broke wind on an epic scale!!The old man was a bit upset putting him in the hole and covering it, but they're both okay now. The bit that upset me was coming home and seeing his cup in the sink! Mam's going to get a little urn thing for flowers and possibly put his name on it for out the garden. It's eerily quiet around here now, plussno 'unusual' sudden smells!!!

Sorry he's gone, hun.

My heart goes out to you. (I have a little Yorkie girl.)   Remember he had a great life.    So sorry.

He was obviously not too bad as he decided to flirt with a little jack russell girl and an english bull terrier in the waiting room, plus he tried to gas a cat!!About 2 seconds after he'd 'gone' he decided to try and take us with him! Little stinker!! And he was spoiled before he went. I bought him a little sausage and a packet of milky way stars for his 'last meal'......mum put poits on top of his grave in case of cats. I can just imagine a cat digging there and finding him!The cat would be scared to death thinking that the dogs are now waiting in the ground to ambush it!!!!
