HiHi
I was a member on here before, then I lost you for a while. I didn't get round to rejoining.
We have 4 rats now, 3 girls and 1 neutered boy and 4 Syrian hamsters, 2 girls and 2 boys.
The girl ratties are sisters and are about 14 months old now and Jimmy, we believe is a similar age. We got him from a friend of my sons friend who didn't want him anymore.
They are our 3rd group of rats.
The hamsters are brothers and sisters and we had intended to get 1 because I have had years of loads of cages and said I was keeping the amount of cages down, but 1 became 2 became 3 became 4, lol, so I now have loads of cages again.
I am 'friends' with some of you on facebook and myspace.
Well that's probably enough for now. Nice being back. :)

Hi sarahh. Yes we do have 4 Syrians. They are so adorable There were 6 in rescue, all from the same litter. 2 boys went off to different homes leaving 4. (2 girls and 2 boys.) I decided to take the 2 girls because they were named Ethel and Hilda. My Nan was called Hilda and my hubbies Nan was Ethel, then my 19 year old son said he would like a boy. When we got there, having decided to take 3 we just couldn't leave the last one behind, so Bert and Ernie both came home with us. Lucky we had plenty of spare cages. Lol.
We used to have Chinese hamsters about 12 years ago when I had no idea about small animals. We bought 2 from a pet shop having been told they were the same sex and could live together with no problems. A few weeks later we found 6 babies. We then realised who Dad was and separated them but 3 weeks later 5 more babies arrived. I then ended up with loads of cages because I didn't want to get rid of any, Lol. We also had a Syrian called Honey at the same time.
Jimmy has had a hard time, bless him but he has settled really well with our girls now. We have had him since January.

Hi Deb isn't it typical these petshops say they are ok to live together and the majority of the time they aren't. I have 2 winter whites that were bullied one came from a home she was given to pets at home because of being bullied and the other was adopted as a girl a few weeks later we found out she was a he no wonder he was bullied making himself a nuisance.
Thats the trouble with alot of small animals if the father isn't taken out straight away the female will end up pregnant within minutes of giving birth. Chinese are sweet my dominant spot chinese female is deaf.
We were the same with the last litter of syrians we had we couldn't do it anymore not knowing where they were going so we kept 2 and people we know had one each and they are spoilt we had one back for a holiday he has been so spoilt lol. Stopped breeding hammies after this we are fed up of seeing unwanted animals everywhere.
