Dollhouse

For all of you Joss Whedon fans that hadn't spotted it, his new series Dollhouse starts this week (Monday at 9pm on Sci-fi, I think).
tigerbabe

It's just finished airing in America.... it's well worth watching. I've been looking at the feedback online and it seems that it just gets better as the series progresses
dogbertisgod

I read the Wikipedia page and shall be watching with great delight. It's just been picked up for a second series, although how long before stupid blasted Fox cancel it like they did Firefly??

Fred from Angel is in it as is Wash from Firefly....

Tuesday at 9pm.
Have set the Sky + as it clashes with CSI, god knows when I'm gonna get the chance to watch it tho, as I've got about three days of stuff to catch up on as it is.
Dragonrat

Really want to see this.

You and me both hun! I've managed to watch the season finale of Heroes, last week's Fringe and last weeks Lost (before watching the finale last night) and that's about as far as I've got.  Still got Bones, NCIS (2 weeks) Num3ers, Primeval (2 weeks) and a few other bits too.
Sare

I'm behind on everything so have set this to record !!

I still have the Dr Who and Red Dwarf easter specials to watch as well as all the new series of Hells Kitchen, Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares, Robin Hood, Fringe and Heroes.

I have a feeling Dollhouse may have to wait for a while
FluffyBuffyWatwat

So far I've managed 24, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Fringe, Eleventh Hour and Grey's.
I still have 3 eps of E.R, three eps of Lost and Britain's next top model to get thru.
And four eps of Dexter, but my dad hasn't seen season two yet, so probably the whole season by that point.
Oh and five eps of Bones 'coz I've been watching The Mentalist, and tbh, really haven't been enjoying this season much at all.
Lynsay

A second season has been commissioned of this!

Don't have Sky so can't watch it   will wait for the dvd!

Watched this last night and the verdict is ...... meh.  Not overly impressed so far, but I'll stick with it for a few weeks to see if it picks up.  I did miss a couple of minutes at the beginning which may not have helped, but I've got it recorded so I can go back and watch the actual beginning to see if I missed anything important.

It doesn't seem to have as much humour in as Joss's other series, which is a shame as it was one of the things I liked most about them.

Stick with it Linzi... I wasn't sure if I was gonna like it after the first episode but it does get better

Don't worry, I'm not giving up on it just yet!
FluffyBuffyWatwat

I quite liked it. I thought the concept was a bit terrifying and given that 90% of the stuff I watch is ending soon I need summat new.
Linzi

I re-watched it last night, and it was a bit better the second time (not that I disliked it before).  I think the main thing that I didn't like is that it's lacking Joss's trade mark sense of humour and one liners, it felt a bit too serious.
Dragonrat

We weren't overly impressed either, but it was only the first one.
Linzi

I enjoyed the second one more, although it didn't help I was on the phone for the first 15 minutes.  Still miss the lack of humour though.
FluffyBuffyWatwat

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I still like the concept, but I think the second one was ruined by the basic plot being summat I've seen in so many other things.
Slayerfest anyone?

Oh yeah! Hadn't twigged on that one, but I know what you mean.
FluffyBuffyWatwat

Still not sure.
It's watchable, but I don't love it.

I agree completely.
Dragonrat

I did like the second one (although it is Joss just rehashing a Buffy script), and recorded last night's.
FluffyBuffyWatwat

Without giving away any spoilers for Leigh, did you not think that last nights was almost that Joss Weedon remembered who he is?

Yeah, I know what you mean and definitely an improvement.  I'm sure that geeky guy was in Buffy or Angel at some point too, but I can't remember his character.
FluffyBuffyWatwat

The guy with the house? Don't think he was in Buffy, but he used to be in King of Queens. He's been in LOADS of things tho. Fairly sure he's been in NCIS.
I did actually laugh a couple of times with this one, and there were lines and comments that I recognised as being Joss Whedon.
dogbertisgod

Patton Oswalt was the geek with the house. Did the voice of Remy in Ratatouille.
Dragonrat

Was anybody else disappointed/confused by last night's finale episode?  I could understand it had they been cancelled, but unless they can come up with some sort of alternate reality or paths taken explanation, they're tied into that ending for good.
Linzi

Actually I was wondering if the next series will continue on in the future with flashbacks, rather than continuing in the present, to give the show a change of direction.

I also thought that maybe they did it in case they weren't picked up for a second series (not sure if they knew at that point if it would be renewed or not).

I have to say I actually enjoyed last nights ep more than some of the others, it was more Whedon-esque!
Sare

I never watched Dollhouse 'cos i hadn't heard good things at all about it.

Most people i know are pretty unimpressed.

P.S. don't forget Legend of the Seeker tomorrow guys!
Linzi

I wouldn't say it was bad, but it certainly isn't anywhere near as good as Buffy/Angel/Firefly.
Sare

I doesn't like Buffy or Angel .. you always knew i was a special girl

True!
FluffyBuffyWatwat

I thought the last ep was terrible.
I mean WTF?
I like the one the explained what happened to Fred, sorry Whiskey, but that one was just..........
I don't understand how that and The Mentalist got picked up, and Eleventh Hour didn't.
tigerbabe

I loved this series
