I don't know whether to or as you're probably right.  The most put-off sequel ever, barring Jean M. Auel.

Not really a Koontz fan. From what I've read, he's sort of a lightweight Stephen King (not that I like him either!)

Interesting fact - Stephen King is afraid of the dark. The master of horror - scared of the dark -WTF???

Whoever told you that needs shooting.  Not that there's anything wrong with King, I love him too, but you could never mistake them for each other and neither is a pale imitation of anyone.

They're completely different. King is outright horror for the most part (and GOD!!!!) and Koontz is a lot more leaning towards the thriller side.
A lot of Dean Koontz's books are utterly terrifying, 'coz they could almost happen.

They've got different styles, too; a lot of King's stuff is rites of passage, while Koontz is brilliant at building individual characters.  Take Watchers; the 'bad thing' in it is utterly evil, a relentless hunter, but you feel so sorry for it.  Koontz also tends to go through phases, one batch of books involving DNA manipulation, another supernatural, etc.  Very few of his are out and out horror.

Hasn't it been pushed again?  It's saying 6th August now.  I'm sure it was a little earlier.

It was originally April, then June, now August. It's a bit ridiculous really.
