And a raggy robin (is he raggy because he's young?)

couple of days and those baby blue *watermelons* will be gone :) they usuakly go early, so you'll be lucky to see them go :) most we ever had out of a garden birdbox (that was seen) was 7 fledged, one fell and one left in the box. lets see if you can break the record :)

you know what to do once they've gone right?

I want birds in our box.

The robin is probably a scraggly adult; they've no time to look after themselves during nesting time.

This is the third location I've tried for the box and the first one that's been a hit

just pull all the nesting material out and give it a spray with jeyes fluid (you can get it pre mixed. don't mess with the jeyes fluid :P it can be very nasty stuff.). it'll kill off any lingering bugs of any kind so when they come back next year they won't get cross infected :)

no blue *watermelons* here this year but we do have blackbirds (on their second brood now, and they have lost all fear of the dogs) and wrens. sparrows next door and house martins down the street. and for the first time in at least 10 years i've been hearing cookoos, which is nice :)

Cool.

p.s. I think they've gone - it's very quiet in the box and there's no activity.

If we're sharing bird pictures.

Taken in Wales last year. I never get the chance to take piccies of birds in my garden, the cats see to that.

My uncle said he saw a magpie kill a sparrow on our garden path the other day and fly off with it

Magpies are swines. I saw one once pecking a starling to death from my bedroom window. I shouted down to the old man and he chased the *marrow* off and buried the starling.

since we're sharing birdies....mine are from up the lane by us as we don't seem to get anything bar jackdaws and the occasional starling.

Blue t.i.t

goldfinch

robin

The robins up the lane are tarts. Everytime I take the camera with me, they show up and pose!!!Hence why I have a load of pics of them!!

You're kidding.  By the time I get my camera, dad's ushered them off away from the bad human.

One.  That's all I managed to get before Daddy ushered him away from the nasty human.

And not in my garden, but one of the Lapwings I saw up on the moors

And a rather handsome Mallard drake in Pickering
