I was cleaning out my fish tank today and found Dora wedged in the tunnel She was not moving so I tried to get her out with my fingers , failed so tried with various implements and failed .
She is one of my oldest fish and I was gutted andran to my neighbours with Dora wedged in the tunnel and now wrapped in a towel.
I sobingly told my friend I was unfit to keep animals and she asked me if I was going to bury her - yes.
I carried on cleaning out the tank (it took another hour), then I decided to bury Dora and dug the grave for her. Picked up the tunnel and saw a flicker of movement
Ran upstairs and put her in the bath whilst I got a saw to saw the plastic tunnel. As soon as I got a bit out and it was loose, she shot out .
So she's still alive and has been swimming around the tank. Question for fishy experts, am I likely to have given her brain damage or something through keeping her out of the water for about an hour?
p.s. If she survives, she's going to be renamed Miracle Dora. _________________ Older, wiser, slower |

She's a Doradidae (thorny catfish) hence the uninspiring name for her _________________ Older, wiser, slower |

they seem to be pretty resiliant.. I've done some awful things to my fish.. once I cleaned out the tank and took the ruins into the bathroom to clean - I KNOW I checked it all over but still did not see the Bristlenose wedged into the roof of it - she nust have been there half an hour with no water and then she got plunged into a bath a freezing cold water when i cleaned and she plopped out - 6 months ago, still with me
I did pretty much the same thing to a clown loach who hitched a ride on the bog wood to the bathroom, that one I had to fish out of the plug hole when it finally fell off the bog wood - god did I panic! _________________ My girls Amber, Mayhem, Chaos, Wilma and Betty and Pip

However I am traumatised when I remember trying to poke Dora back through the tunnel so sort of see where you're coming from. _________________ Older, wiser, slower |

I can't really talk tho. I put my dog's food in the bowl yest, went and had a bath, come back an hour later and realized I'd left it on the counter.

From what I can remember, Doras can actually breath air. Wedging themselves in things is what they do, so don't panic when it doews that - and mind the razors along the pectoral fins! _________________ Leigh
